The Democratic Presidential Candidates Proposals For Healthcare Reform

Every one of the Democratic Presidential Candidates has a plan for Healthcare Reform. The plans involve some degree of Government participation, either at the Status or Federal Level or both, but each Healthcare Reform program is unique one form the other and there are some very innovation approaches to Healthcare Reform. Healthcare Reform is one of the most discussed issues of the current campaign. There have been many bills proposed in Congress, very few of which have been adopted. Is the next election the time when Healthcare Reform will become a reality? That is up to the voters, who hopefully will look at all the pros and cons, look at all the individual plans on the web sites of not only the Democratic Presidential Candidates, but at other Candidates as well, and make an informed decision, one map or the other.

Senator Joseph R. “Joe” Biden Jr. Of Delaware
Senator Biden has a Healthcare Plan on his Democratic Presidential Web Site advocating healthcare for all, and streamlining the current system. His program reads in part, “Joe Biden believes we need to take three steps to beget the cost of health care: modernize the system, simplify the system and reduce errors. He supports the transition to obtain electronic records so that people can provide their doctors and nurses with vital medical information in real time. He believes there should be a uniform, efficient system to submit claims. Joe Biden believes the path toward a 21st century health care system starts with the most vulnerable in our society. He would expand health insurance for children and relieve families and businesses of the burden of expensive catastrophic cases. He supports states that are pursuing innovative alternatives to fabricate sure that everyone has access to health care and believes we should use data from these states to evaluate what works best in providing affordable access to health care for all.”

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York
Senator Clinton talks very extensively on her Democratic Presidential Candidate Web Place regarding her position on Healthcare reform. Senator Clinton believes in a Universal Health Care System Some of the statements are “As First Lady, Hillary introduced a understanding to provide full coverage for all Americans, which was defeated after aggressive opposition. She continued the fight by helping to create the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. She also helped create the Vaccines for Children program, which increased childhood immunization rates to an all-time high, with 90 percent or more of America’s toddlers receiving the most critical vaccines by age two.”

Senator Christopher J. “Chris” Dodd of Connecticut
Senator Dodd also has an extensive discussion of Healthcare reform on his Democratic Presidential Candidates web place. In short, the topics he discusses include Universal Responsibility, Assisting Small Businesses, Focusing On Prevention, Building On What Works and Driving Down Costs. There is also extensive discussion on what he has done for Healthcare Reform in the past.

Former Senator John R. Edwards of North Carolina
Senator Edwards outlines his plan for Healthcare Reform on his Democratic Presidential Candidates web site. “Families without insurance will salvage coverage at an affordable price.
Families with insurance will pay less and get more security and choices and Businesses and other employers will find it cheaper and easier to insure their workers.” He also talks about the measures he would put into place to achieve his goals. “Requiring businesses and other employers to either cover their employees or back finance their health insurance.
Making insurance affordable by creating new tax credits, expanding Medicaid and SCHIP, reforming insurance laws, and taking innovative steps to contain health care costs.
Creating regional “Health Care Markets” to let every American share the bargaining power to purchase an affordable, high-quality health plan, increase choices among insurance plans, and cut costs for businesses offering insurance. Once these steps have been taken, requiring all American residents to get insurance.”

Former Senator Maurice R. “Mike” Gravel of Virginia
Senator Gravel takes a different advance to Healthcare Reform on his Democratic Presidential Candidates web site. He advocates “a universal health-care voucher program in which the federal government would issue annual health care vouchers to Americans based on their projected needs. Under the Senator’s conception, all Americans would be fully covered and would be free to use their vouchers to choose their own health care professional. Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich of Ohio
Congressman Kucinich has a plan for Universal Healthcare outlined on his Democratic Presidential Candidates web site. Senator Barack H. Obama, Jr. Of Illinois
On his Democratic Presidential Candidates web site, Senator Obama states, “Quality Affordable Health Care for All by the End of Barack Obama’s First Term in Office” He outlines his methods also: 1. Providing affordable, comprehensive and portable health coverage for every American;
Modernizing the U.S. health care system to contain spiraling health care costs and improve the quality of patient care; and
Promoting prevention and strengthening public health to prevent disease and protect against natural and man-made disasters.

Governor William B. “Bill” Richardson of New Mexico
Governor Richardson has a three step approach on his Democratic Presidential Candidates web site for Healthcare Reform. In summary he talks about Opening up existing sources of affordable, portable coverage to more Americans focusing on Working families and small businesses, Americans 55 and older, Seniors and persons with disabilities, Lower-income Americans and Veterans. In order to Help families pay for coverage, he advocates An advance refundable tax credit based on income, All employers will be required to do their ravishing fragment and All Americans will be required to obtain coverage. He plans to Provide relief from high health costs by Passing a Medical Borrower’s Fairness Act, Streamlining health care administration, Investing in prevention and Improving quality of care
