Press Releasenursing Scholarships For Nepali Women

Nepali Women’s Global Network (NWGN) announces the Gyanu Shah Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Nripa Karki Memorial Nursing Scholarship, and Rohini Shah Memorial Scholarship.

These scholarships will be awarded to deserving Nepali women to pursue a nursing education in Nepal. The Rohini Shah Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to those students who are residing and studying in the Terai region. The 3 scholarships, in the amount of $300 each annually, have been established by the Indira Foundation.

To be considered for any or all of the above scholarships please fill out the one general nursing scholarship beget and the decision committee will consider you for all three. Please visit Nepali Womens Global Network’s home page to download application.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma

Application must be submitted by July 17th 2009.

Requirements:

All Candidates who are applying for the Scholarship must:

• Be a Nepali woman
• Provide evidence of her financial need
• Be in noble academic standing
• Live and go to school in Nepal
• Have graduated High school and have been accepted to a Nursing college in Nepal

Continuation of the scholarship for an existing recipient:

• Be a plump time student
• Pass each semester examination and be in excellent academic standing to qualify for the following year.
• Still have demonstrated financial need

Responsibility of Scholars:

• Keep in touch with the selection committee of NWGN
• Notify the Selection Committee as soon as exam results are out
• Provide a signed receipt for each award received

Please include the following with your application:

• Write an essay describing how your pursuit of a Nursing Degree will improve your life and the lives of people in your community. Please limit your essay to approximately 500 words.

• Scan and establish a copy of an official transcript of your grades from the school(s) you have attended. (Note: You may be required to show your original copy to the contact in Nepal )

• Scan and attach an official letter of your admission and/or permission to enroll in courses at the College/University you will be attending to study nursing.

• Attach one (1) passport sized photo – image can be either scanned or digital.

• Obtain (2) confidential recommendation letters from current principal/teachers/ supervisors. Request that the individual send their recommendation letter directly to nwgn@nepaliwomen. org.
