Reputable U.s. Nursing Schools

Baylor University’s Louise Herrington School of Nursing undergraduate and graduate programs have an outstanding reputation based on excellent faculty, curriculum, and students. Located in Dallas, TX, Baylor nurses are leaders at hospitals, universities, and other health care agencies. Approximately 275 students are enrolled in the BSN program. The program of study consists of 131 semester hours of credit. There are 66 semester hours of prerequisites, which may be taken on the Baylor-Waco campus or at other accredited colleges and universities. The upper-level (junior and senior years) of the program of study consists of 65 semester hours. The upper division courses are taken on the Dallas campus. The program (pre-nursing and nursing) is designed to be completed in four years (eight academic semesters). All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to the beginning of the upper division major in Dallas.

The Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing is spread over several campuses around the state and includes Bio-behavioral Nursing which focuses on research, practice, and teaching about the integration of the biological and mental/behavioral aspects of health with a focus on the individual and family as they function within a population and community context. MCG is also home to the Department of Health Environment and Systems, a multi-specialty department supporting the School of Nursing tripartite mission of teaching, practice, and research in the areas of community health nursing, psychiatric-mental health nursing, nursing administration, and nursing informatics. The department focuses on understanding health and disease within the context of social and physical environmental factors, culturally sensitive nursing interventions for vulnerable populations in community systems, managing quality nursing care in complex health systems, and analysis of health policy. And finally, The Department of Physiological and Technological Nursing provides innovative leadership, education and research that enhance the understanding and application of physiologic systems interactions, health care technology, and professional nursing roles.
